The Lake Geneva, nestled within the embrace of the Swiss and French Alps, and accessible from both Switzerland and France, is an one-of-a-kind winter wonderland that beckons travelers to hear its stories narrated by charming villages, and snow-kissed landscapes.

Located in the West shore of the Lake, Montreux can be described as an Alpine town with a Mediterranean aura. Stroll along the lakeside promenade and take photos together with the Freddie Mercury statue, jump to the neighbor rocky island to climb up to the medieval fortress of Chillon Castle to enjoy a stunning panoramic view, and for sure spend and evening chilling out at the Montreux Jazz Café, as the city is worldwide renown for the echoing melodies of Jazz legends.
As promised in the introduction, this trip is also an opportunity to explore the Alpine slopes besides their surroundings. The ski area that hosts 12 different ski resorts – yes, undoubtedly one of the biggest in the world-, is suitable for all types of visitors; solo snow sports enthusiasts, couples, families, and friend group that seek for some bonding through fun. The number of resorts is equal to a wide range of choices concerning the type and coziness level of the accommodation to book through Erna Low, along with the other types of facilities provided, from the very necessary après-ski services and relaxation retreats, to the tax-free retail and the elevated culinary delicacies.
Probably the most remarkable one out of the French towns built to the shores of the Lake, Thonon-les-Bains has unpredictably historical significance according to its size, and of course a serene ambiance depriving of the landscape. The highlights are the Château de Ripaille, a 15th-century castle surrounded by lush vineyards and gardens, and the therapeutic Centre Thermal, to take care of yourself at and seek for rejuvenation while overlooking the lake.
It would be impossible to travel around Lake Geneva, and miss the chance for a visit to one of Switzerland’s biggest cities. The cosmopolitan “City of Peace”, has a vibrant urban life and is a paradise for luxury shoppers, while still providing a picturesque backdrop to the lake’s serene beauty. Get lost in the Old Town’s maze, formed by narrow streets, historic buildings and charming squares, as St. Pierre Cathedral, visit the Plainpalais Flea Market, for savoring regional products -cheese is a great option for tasting-, and admire the the iconic illuminated Jet d’Eau fountain while cruising in the Lake, if not already in Montreux.
